Peter Boughton :: Bouldering

Bouldering

I'm a keen boulderer, I first started in 2010 and climb regularly at Craggy2, where I enjoy problems around 6a to 6b+ levels, Craggy grades.

Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that uses no ropes or climbing aids, just snug-fitting rubber-soled shoes and a suitable rock or wall.

I wear La Sportiva Mythos shoes, which are simple and comfortable. (I don't see the point in aggressive down-turned shoes.)

The focus of bouldering is on relatively close-to-ground climbs, which can have anywhere from a handful to a dozen moves, requiring a variety of different skills to accomplish.

Strength, agility, flexibility, balance, coordination, and strong fingers are all useful assets, with different combinations coming in to play for different climbs.
